AIG Reading Groups travel through various genres throughout the school year. Students create Interactive Reading Journals in AIG class and add to them throughout the year. The literature is carefully selected to either tickle the funny bone, touch the heart or intrigue us to solve mysteries! The students use the RAINBOW bookmarking system as they read to identify metacognitive strategies, literary elements and life lessons. Our reading groups are like book clubs and focus on Socratic questioning, higher order thinking, vocabulary and comprehension strategies. The literature is wonderful and is viewed as a tool to assist students to grow in their reading abilities.
